Sven Voelker on Corporate Design:
Between 2006 and 2008 the Sven Voelker Studio designed a revolutionary new corporate design for the Suzuki Motor Corporation. The principle of snow crystals was the inspiration for a very different corporate design strategy.
This documentary film takes us on a journey from Pace flags in Berlin to Mt. Fuji in Japan, from Sweden's red wooden houses to a Manga shop in Tokyo and from the street grid of Manhattan to Johannes Gutenberg in Mainz. Together with his graphic design team, Prof. Sven Voelker travelled around the globe to explore the world of logos, typography, colour, structures and photography. More.

The 2008 calendar of the communication design department was printed on auto-copying paper. Written words are copied through several sheets of paper. Memories of past events, ideas or information remain as shadows in the future. Increasing the writing pressure intensifies memories. Decreasing pressure makes them fade. Oberrhein – Eine Heimatmarke. A group of 14 design students and one professor went through a design process that took them on bicycles to France and by train to Switzerland. Meeting the people that live, work and travel in that „Heimat“ region played an important part in the finding of this new and surprising symbol, the Rhino.
The book about the design project contains stories and research from our travels and presents the four key design elements: colour, typeface and the symbol. The book was designed by the young designgroup You don‘t matter and was printed in a limited edition.
