Sven Voelker has received an MA in Communication Design from Middlesex University, London and a Diploma in Graphic Design from the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, Germany.
He was co-director of the first Profile Intermedia 98 Design Conference and author of the book "Beyond the Borders". For three years as Creative Director for PLEX designgroup in Berlin he was responsible for clients such as Volkswagen, Swarovski and Zumtobel Staff. His interdisciplinary approach to design led him to explore many aspects of communication in all kinds of media. His design work has received many awards such as the CGI Tokyo, the Art Directors Club Award, the Red Dot Award or the iF gold award.
From 2004 - 2010 he was Professor at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (Hochschule für Gestaltung) and head of its Communication Design Department.
He is Professor for Communication Design at the University of Art and Design Halle Burg Giebichenstein. He continues to work in his Berlin based studio where he is responsible for the global corporate design of the Suzuki Motor Corporation and other clients.
